SALVATION ARMY SET TO OPEN DISASTER ASSISTANCE CENTER NEAR BLAIR; WILL CONTINUE FREE DISTRIBUTION OF FOOD, BOTTLED WATER, HOUSEHOLD SUPPLIES IN OMAHA

In Omaha Today April 29th

The drive-thru Disaster Relief Center in front of Brite Ideas Decorating (156th & Blondo) will continue operations on Monday. Its hours Monday will be 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Goods including bottled water, nonperishable foods, cleaning supplies, and personal-care items will be available for free to those affected by Friday’s severe weather in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa. Those wishing to pick up items must show ID.

The Salvation Army asks that no donated items be brought to the DRC tomorrow—the DRC will only be open for drive-thru pick-up of free supplies.

Anyone wishing to volunteer to staff the DRC may do so by calling the volunteer hotline at 402-898-6000.

In Washington County April 29th

Salvation Army officials plan to open a Disaster Assistance Center in the community of Lakeland—just south of Blair—starting at 8 a.m. Monday. The center will be located in the Lake Arrowhead Office at 4861 Lakeland Drive and will provide a central location where people can register to volunteer for storm-relief – and where those needing assistance in the wake of the storms can find support. Salvation Army representatives and personnel from collaborating agencies will staff the center. The center’s Monday and Tuesday operating hours will be 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. The Salvation Army will be providing a free breakfast at the center starting at 8 Monday morning.

Salvation Army canteens (food trucks) will be roving throughout the Blair-Lakeland area, going neighborhood to neighborhood to provide food and bottled water and emotional-spiritual care to those affected by Friday’s severe weather.
